The Mirror Lies (REVISED!)

The first devotional that started me out on Kingdom Commandos, the radio show sa little while back! This devotional was directed to girls only at the time(however, I will write it so guys can relate to it as well this time!)

We have this problem, one of the bigger problems in the world... Insecurity. Everyday we are attacked by this mental wave-link called the mirror. Daily, our insecurity shows on the face we scrutinize in the mirror. Daily, the girls rub the "big hips" that they don't like. Daily, men look at themselves through the mirror of everything else.... "Who would want someone like me?", "I'm worthless!", "I cannot be forgiven!"

What is the way out of this? Can we still find our way? And what if we don't? We are insecure with our weight, our looks, our faith, our life, ourselves and why God made us like this. Why not like Taylor Swift? Or Brittany Spears? Or Michael Jackson? Have you ever looked at their lives? Do we know if they aren't asking the very same questions right now?

The girls of the world feel pressured to be a certain weight, height, and with certain looks about them. The guys feel pressured to be toughened, hardened, strong, and not show any emotion. But haven't you noticed that the ones that are pressuring us are the ones who think the same way about themselves? Where shall we go to be free of this...situation, to break free of the bonds of insecurity and fear!

Girls, fashion is fine to a certain point, but we make it our everything because of the Television, the magazines, the newspapers, everything calls for us to be.... well "sexy" and all, but God calls us to be beautiful inside (and then out)!

Guys, the whole lack of emotion, feigned strength, the barriers you put up to look tough and hardened, it isn't necessary! Yes, I know that males are not as emotional as females, but I also know that you have emotions too! I can see in guy's eyes, a struggle to keep the strength, but sometimes strength is found in meekness, don't let the world of business and career detour you from being true and sincere!

Where have we fallen? A rut of "Sexy and hot" pressures, and a rut of "I must be strong" attitudes. God can only pull us out of the rut we made, if we open our hearts to Him to pull us out! Remember the Psalm by King David: I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works. And that my soul knows well. ~Psalm 139:14 NKJV~
